With a decline in enrollment in the 1970’s and 1980’s, the district closed the Central School and the old elementary on Heege Road - which had been used in the 1960’s for kindergarten classes. Most of the old high school building (currently the Junior High) was unoccupied as well. It wasn’t until the 1990’s when immigrants from the former Yugoslavia, began enrolling in the Bayless schools, that enrollment improved.
